The Sell Ltd platform — an AI deal adviser, not a broker
By Chris at Sell LtdLast updated How the platform works — five steps
You answer a guided survey. Chris pre-fills every question he can from Companies House filings — you're editing, not typing from scratch.
Chris drafts your confidential teaser, full information memorandum and pitch email. You approve, edit inline or ask Chris to rewrite.
Chris shortlists strategic buyers from Companies House by SIC code, director networks and acquisition history. Approved outreach goes out same day.
Interested buyers click-to-sign an NDA and access the full IM inside your private deal room. You control what each buyer sees and can revoke access anytime.
Your lawyer and the buyer's lawyer complete the SPA. Sell Ltd's 1.5% platform fee is settled on completion. No fee if you don't sell.

Where a broker beats us honestly: on genuinely complex mid-market deals (£10m+) with structured earn-outs and multi-jurisdiction tax, a specialist corporate finance boutique still adds value. For 90% of UK SME sales below £10m, the platform wins on cost, speed and seller control.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Sell Ltd platform?
The Sell Ltd platform is the UK's AI-first business sale platform. One product bundles an AI deal adviser (Chris), a 24-hour information memorandum builder, buyer matching sourced from Companies House data, a secure deal room and a confidential marketplace. Free to list; 1.5% on completion. It replaces the broker retainer entirely.
How is Sell Ltd different from a broker?
A traditional broker like KBS Corporate charges a £5,000–£15,000 upfront retainer plus 3–8% success fee and locks you into 12–24 month exclusivity. Sell Ltd charges £0 upfront, 1.5% on completion, and you can leave at any time. The workflow (IM, outreach, NDA gating, buyer screening) is the same — just automated where the broker used a junior analyst.
Is Sell Ltd really free to list?
Yes. Creating a confidential listing, running Chris across your Companies House filings, generating an IM and receiving buyer enquiries costs nothing. You only pay the 1.5% success fee when a deal actually completes. Optional add-ons (managed sale, extra outreach credits, priority slot) are priced individually and disclosed on the pricing page.
What data does the platform use?
Companies House filings, HMRC-registered sector codes, The Gazette insolvency notices, ONS regional benchmarks and Sell Ltd's own transaction data. Buyer enrichment pulls from Companies House officer records and third-party B2B data providers. No scraping of private data — every source is a licensed or public register.
How fast can I go live?
The seller survey takes 30 minutes. Chris drafts the confidential teaser and the full IM within 24 hours of survey completion. Once you approve the copy, the listing is live and outreach begins the same day. Compare this to the 4–8 weeks a traditional broker typically takes to produce an IM.
Does Sell Ltd handle buyer NDAs?
Yes — every full listing is behind an NDA gate. Buyers see a confidential teaser (sector, size band, region) publicly, then click-to-sign a Sell Ltd standard NDA before the identifying details, financials and IM are released. You can revoke access to any buyer at any time from the deal room.
Can I still use my own lawyer and accountant?
Absolutely — and you should. Sell Ltd is a platform, not a legal or tax adviser. When a serious buyer submits heads of terms, engage a corporate lawyer for the SPA and warranty schedule (typically £3,000–£20,000) and a chartered tax adviser for the exit structure. The 1.5% platform fee does not include legal or tax work.
What size businesses is Sell Ltd for?
UK limited companies with £100,000–£15m in turnover. Below £100k the deal economics rarely justify a full sale process. Above £15m a specialist corporate finance boutique may be more appropriate for a strategic auction — though the platform still handles marketplace exposure and NDA gating well at that band.
Is the platform available outside the UK?
Sell Ltd is UK-focused: Companies House data, GBP pricing, UK NDA and SPA templates, HMRC-aware tax framing. UK-registered companies with international buyers are fine. Cross-border sellers (a French limited company selling to a US buyer, for example) should use a specialist adviser.
Who is behind Sell Ltd?
Sell Ltd is a UK business built by former deal-side advisers, engineers and data scientists. Chris (the AI deal adviser) is trained on real UK SME transactions and refreshed quarterly against Companies House and Insolvency Service data. The human editorial team reviews every listing before it goes live to buyers.
How does Sell Ltd make money?
The 1.5% success fee on completed deals. That's the only revenue we take from sellers. Optional add-ons — managed sale, priority marketplace placement, extra outreach — are priced separately and always disclosed before you buy. We do not sell your data, we do not accept broker referral fees, we do not run affiliate marketing on your listing.
What if my deal doesn't complete?
You pay nothing. No retainer, no marketing charge, no monthly fee. A listing that doesn't sell costs you the 30 minutes of survey time and the buyer meetings you chose to take. That's it. Compare to a broker retainer which is typically non-refundable regardless of outcome.
